Space Cats
Description:
Space Cats is a 1991 American animated and live-action puppet TV show created by Paul Fusco, the creator of ALF. It follows alien felines from the planet "Triglyceride 7" who operate from a base inside Earth's core to help humanity fight crime. The show combines live-action puppets for the "real-world" interactions and animated segments for the actual missions, which feature three cartoon cats: Tom, Scratch, and Sniff.
Premise: The show begins with a live-action/puppet segment where Captain Catgut, the leader of the alien felines, receives missions from the disembodied head of DORC, a cranky, mission-giving authority figure.
Mission Assignment: Captain Catgut then dispatches the mission to the animated trio of crime-fighting cats: Tom, a weapons expert; Scratch, a master of disguise; and Sniff, known for his sense of smell.
Format: The series blends live-action puppets with traditional animation, with the live-action part taking place in the base and the animated part showing the actual adventures.
