Description:  Courage the Cowardly Dog is a 1999 Cartoon Network animated series about a pink dog who lives with his owners, Muriel and Eustace Bagge, in a farmhouse in the middle of Nowhere, Kansas. The show combines horror and dark humor as Courage, despite being a coward, must overcome his fears to protect the blissfully unaware Muriel and grumpy Eustace from bizarre, supernatural threats.

Main characters: Courage: A timid, pink beagle who was orphaned and then adopted by Muriel. Muriel: A sweet, kindly old Scottish woman who loves Courage. Eustace: Muriel's greedy and grumpy husband who frequently harasses Courage.

Premise: The series follows the "adventures" of Courage and his owners as they encounter strange things, monsters, aliens, and other supernatural perils that Courage must fend off. Muriel and Eustace are often unaware of the true danger, or the monsters' true intentions. The show's premise relies on the ironic name "Courage" to highlight the dog's ability to act despite his fear.

Themes: The show is known for its surreal humor and dark, horror-comedy style. Despite the frightening elements, it often conveys the message that courage is not the absence of fear, but the ability to do what is right in the face of fear. Episodes often explore themes of isolation and the abuse Courage experiences, while also delivering a strong message about love and loyalty to his owners.
