The Shnookums & Meat Show
Description:
The Shnookums & Meat Funny Cartoon Show , which aired in 1995 as a spin-off of the show Marsupilami, was Disney's attempt to create an "edgy" animated series in the vein of Nickelodeon's The Ren & Stimpy Show. Each half-hour episode was an anthology program consisting of three distinct segments:
Shnookums and Meat! This segment features the titular cat (Shnookums) and dog (Meat) who live in a suburban home with their perpetually unseen owners, only known as "Husband & Wife". The duo do not get along well and are often at odds, engaging in slapstick humor and bizarre, over-the-top antics after their owners leave the house.
Pith Possum: Super Dynamic Possum of Tomorrow This segment is a spoof of the superhero genre, especially the 1966 Batman TV series. It follows Pith Possum and his sidekick Obediah the Wonder Raccoon as they fight crime in Possum City. Pith Possum's secret identity is a lowly tabloid copyboy named Peter Possum.
Tex Tinstar: The Best in the West A parody of old Wild West serials, this segment follows the adventures of the cowboy Tex Tinstar and his friends as they pursue a group of outlaws called the Wrong Riders. Each short ends in a cliffhanger, much like the serials it satirizes.
