Shirt Tales
Description:
Shirt Tales is an 1980s animated cartoon about a group of animal friends—Pammy Panda, Tyg Tiger, Digger Mole, Rick Raccoon, and Bogey Orangutan—who are secretly crime fighters. Their shirts flash messages revealing their thoughts, and they use gadgets and a supersonic vehicle to solve mysteries, all while keeping their identities hidden from their human guardian, the park ranger Mr. Dinkel. The show was based on greeting cards from Hallmark and was produced by Hanna-Barbera.
The Team: The main characters are Pammy Panda, Tyg Tiger, Digger Mole, Rick Raccoon, and Bogey Orangutan. In the second season, a character named Kip Kangaroo was added.
Their Secret: The animals live in a hollow tree and act as a crime-sleuthing squad, but they must keep their abilities hidden from the strict park ranger, Mr. Dinkel, whom they often trick or let take credit for their work.
Their Gadgets: They have a secret lair and a shape-changing supersonic vehicle called the STSST (Shirt Tales' SuperSonic Transport) that can act as a car, jet, boat, or submarine.
Origin: The characters originated from a line of Hallmark greeting cards before being developed into the animated series by Hanna-Barbera Productions, which first aired in 1982.
