Description:  Pound Puppies is an animated series, originally based on the toy line, about a group of shelter dogs who secretly work to find homes for other animals. The most recent version, a 2010 series, focuses on the characters at Shelter 17, including Lucky, Niblet, Cookie, Strudel, and Squirt, who operate a sophisticated underground facility to match dogs with loving families. Earlier versions from the 1980s featured a different group of dogs and a more traditional storyline with a human girl named Holly and her evil aunt, Katrina Stoneheart, as the main antagonist.

The original series featured a different cast of characters, such as Cooler, Nose Marie, and Bright Eyes. They were aided by a girl named Holly, who could communicate with them using "puppy power". Their main villain was Holly's evil aunt, Katrina Stoneheart, who ran the pound and wanted to get rid of the dogs.
