Description:  Inspector Gadget is an animated series about a bumbling, dim-witted cyborg detective with a wide array of built-in gadgets who fights crime for the city of Metro City. The series' formula involves the main villain, Dr. Claw, and his evil organization M.A.D. launching a scheme, only for Inspector Gadget's clever niece Penny and their dog, Brain, to secretly foil the plot behind the scenes while Gadget unknowingly gets the credit.

Protagonist: Inspector Gadget is a cyborg police investigator with a multitude of bionic gadgets built into his body, such as extending arms, a helicopter hat, and roller skates.

Villain: The main antagonist is Dr. Claw, the leader of the evil criminal organization M.A.D. (Malicious Animals Destruction). His face is never shown, only his hands and cat are visible in the original series.

Supporting characters: Penny, Gadget's intelligent niece, and her dog Brain are the true masterminds behind the investigations. They work in secret to stop M.A.D.'s plans.

Plot structure: Each episode follows a similar formula where Gadget is assigned a case by his boss, Chief Quimby. Penny and Brain investigate the crime, use their skills and Gadget's gadgets to stop the villains, and make it appear as though Gadget was responsible.
