Description:  The Super Mario Bros. Super Show! is a live-action/animated series from 1989 that features the adventures of plumbers Mario and Luigi, Princess Toadstool, and Toad as they travel through the Mushroom Kingdom to defeat the evil King Koopa. Each episode consists of a live-action segment, often with a celebrity guest star, followed by an animated cartoon that forms the main story. On Fridays, the animated portion was a separate series based on The Legend of Zelda.

Live-action segments: These segments feature professional wrestler Captain Lou Albano as Mario and Danny Wells as Luigi running their Brooklyn plumbing shop. A celebrity guest star would appear in each episode to present a problem or challenge for the brothers, which would be resolved after the animated portion. The live-action parts were filmed in front of a live studio audience and included a laugh track.

Animated segments: The main animated stories follow Mario, Luigi, Princess Toadstool, and Toad as they battle King Koopa and his minions. Episodes were often parodies of classic literature, movies, or historical events. On Fridays, the animated segment was replaced by an episode of The Legend of Zelda, featuring Link and Princess Zelda.
