The 13 Ghosts of Scooby-Doo
Description:
The 13 Ghosts of Scooby-Doo is an animated series where Scooby-Doo and Shaggy accidentally release 13 malevolent ghosts from the Chest of Demons. Now, the gang must travel the world to recapture the spirits, aided by the warlock Vincent Van Ghoul, Flim-Flam, and Scrappy-Doo. The series is notable for featuring a single, overarching plot rather than the usual monster-of-the-week format, and for portraying the ghosts as real supernatural beings.
The premise: Scooby and Shaggy are tricked into opening the Chest of Demons while in the Himalayas, releasing 13 powerful ghosts and demons.
The quest: Because only those who opened the chest can re-imprison the spirits, the gang embarks on a global journey to recapture them before they can cause too much havoc.
Supporting characters: The team is joined by Daphne's nephew, Scrappy-Doo, and a young con artist named Flim-Flam, with assistance from the warlock Vincent Van Ghoul, voiced by Vincent Price.
The ghosts: Unlike earlier Scooby-Doo series, the ghosts in this show are real supernatural creatures, not humans in masks.
Continuous story: The series has a linear narrative that carries through each episode, which was a departure from the standalone mystery format of previous Scooby-Doo cartoons.
