Manta and Moray
Description:
Manta and Moray are a pair of amphibious superheroes from the 1970s Saturday morning cartoon segment of Tarzan and the Super 7. Manta is an ancient, aquatic monarch from the lost civilization of Mu, while Moray is a human woman raised by dolphins. They work together to protect the world's oceans from threats like pollution and illegal fishing, aided by their animal companions, a sea lion named Whiskers and a whale named Guppy.
Manta: An ancient, amphibious prince from the lost continent of Mu. He was awakened from a radiation-induced suspended animation by Moray and is dependent on water for survival. He can communicate with animals, both on land and in the sea.
Moray: A human woman orphaned when her parents' plane crashed at sea. She was rescued and raised by dolphins, becoming a skilled swimmer and ocean dweller. She is less dependent on water than Manta but is vulnerable to deep-sea pressure.
Mission: The duo's primary mission is to protect the underwater world from those who would threaten it.
Companions: They are frequently joined by their animal friends, including Whiskers (a sea lion) and Guppy (a gray whale).
Origin: The Manta and Moray segment was produced by Filmation and aired as part of the Tarzan and the Super 7 series from 1978 to 1980.
Show's format: The series was an omnibus program that also featured other segments like The New Adventures of Batman and The Freedom Force.
