Description:  The 1978 Hanna-Barbera Godzilla cartoon portrayed Godzilla as a heroic and friendly giant who helped the crew of a research vessel called the Calico. The crew included Captain Carl Majors, scientist Dr. Darien Quinn, her nephew Pete, and first mate Brock, who would often get into danger. The show also featured a younger, winged Godzilla named Godzooky, who was Pete's best friend and a comic sidekick.

Heroic role: Godzilla came to the rescue of the Calico and its crew, who had previously saved a younger Godzilla named Godzooky.

New abilities: In this version, Godzilla could breathe fire (instead of his atomic breath) and shoot laser beams from his eyes, which he used to defeat enemies and save the day.

Godzooky: Godzilla's nephew, Godzooky, was a cowardly and light-hearted character who could fly with his small wings and often coughed up smoke rings instead of fire.

Plot: The crew faced many dangers, such as natural disasters and other giant monsters, and would call for Godzilla's help using a signal device or when Godzooky roared.

Character change: This was a departure from the original Japanese films, as the 1978 animated series depicted Godzilla as a heroic and friendly giant rather than a destructive monster.
