Description:  Dastardly and Muttley in Their Flying Machines is a 1969 Hanna-Barbera cartoon series, a spin-off of Wacky Races, set during World War I. In the show, the bumbling Vulture Squadron, led by Dick Dastardly and his dog Muttley, repeatedly attempts to capture a brave carrier pigeon named Yankee Doodle. Their elaborate, yet flawed, schemes almost always fail, and the pigeon always escapes.

The premise: The Vulture Squadron's main goal is to capture Yankee Doodle, a heroic carrier pigeon.

The villains: Dick Dastardly is the leader of the squadron, and Muttley is his loyal, snickering sidekick. The two, along with other squadron members, are notorious for their ineptitude.

The hero: Yankee Doodle is a fearless carrier pigeon who consistently outsmarts the villains.

The failure: Despite their best efforts and increasingly ridiculous inventions, Dastardly and his squadron never succeed in their mission.

The humor: The show is known for its "flabbergastacious" flying machines, the repetitive but funny chase sequences, and Muttley's signature "Muttley Mumble" laugh and catchphrases.

It was inspired by the 1965 film Those Magnificent Men in Their Flying Machines. The show's theme song is the iconic "Stop That Pigeon".
