CB Bears
Description:
The 1977 animated series CB Bears centered on a trio of anthropomorphic bear detectives named Hustle, Boogie, and Bump, who solved mysteries while disguised as garbage collectors. The bears received their assignments via a citizens band (CB) radio in their garbage truck, known as the "Perfume Wagon", from a never-seen, sultry-voiced female boss named "Charlie" (a spoof of the hit live-action show Charlie's Angels). Each of the bears' names was a nod to a popular 1970s disco dance.
Main Characters
Hustle: The leader of the group (voiced by Daws Butler, in an impression of Phil Silvers).
Boogie: The smallest bear with blue fur, often getting into danger (voiced by Chuck McCann).
Bump: The tallest bear, who was somewhat cowardly and sported a blonde hairstyle similar to Farrah Fawcett's (voiced by Henry Corden).
CB Bears was an anthology show, with the primary segment accompanied by five other recurring segments, each of which spoofed a popular TV show or film of the era:
Blast-Off Buzzard: A silent chase cartoon in the vein of Wile E. Coyote and the Road Runner, featuring a buzzard and a speedy snake named Crazylegs.
Heyyy, It's the King!: An all-animal parody of Happy Days, with a lion named King as a Fonzie-like character.
Posse Impossible: A comedy Western featuring a bumbling sheriff and his deputies chasing equally clumsy outlaws.
Shake, Rattle & Roll: Followed three ghosts who ran a hotel for supernatural creatures and were often pursued by a ghost exterminator.
Undercover Elephant: An elephant secret agent and his mouse sidekick who solved mysteries, spoofing Mission: Impossible.
