Description:  Linus the Lionhearted is a 1960s animated TV series about a kind but mild-mannered lion who rules the jungle from a barber's chair. Originally created as a mascot for Post Cereals, the commercials were so popular that they led to the creation of the cartoon show. The show featured other Post cereal mascots like Sugar Bear, So-Hi, and Lovable Truly, and was known for its star-studded voice cast.

Character and setting: Linus is a lion who is the "King of the Jungle," but he is gentle and can be timid, preferring to avoid conflict. He rules from his signature barber chair in a whimsical jungle setting.

Plot: The show's plots revolved around Linus helping his friends with their problems, often getting into silly or "impossible" situations caused by his subjects.

Origin: The character was first created in 1959 for "Heart of Oats" cereal. In 1963, he was redesigned to promote "Crispy Critters"

cereal. The popularity of the cereal ads led to the 1964 TV series.
