George of the Jungle
Description:
George of the Jungle is an animated series spoofing Tarzan, about a dim-witted but kind-hearted jungle protector named George. He lives in the jungle with his intelligent gorilla friend Ape, his human wife Ursula, and his elephant Shep, who thinks he's a dog. A signature element is George's habit of swinging into trees while the theme song warns him to "watch out for that tree!".
Main character: George, a kind but unintelligent "ape-man" who constantly crashes into trees while vine-swinging.
Friends: Ape, a wise and sarcastic gorilla who often acts as George's voice of reason; Ursula, a human woman who becomes George's wife; and Shep, a large elephant who behaves like a dog.
Plot: George is the king and protector of the jungle, often called upon to save its inhabitants from various threats, though his own clumsiness frequently leads to physical comedy.
Other segments: The show often included other cartoons, such as the race car driver Tom Slick and the superhero poultry character, Super Chicken.
