The Porky Pig Show
Description:
The Porky Pig Show was a mid-1960s animated anthology series on ABC that repackaged classic Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies theatrical cartoons, hosted by the famous stuttering pig, Porky Pig.
Description of the Show
Format: Each half-hour episode was a compilation of three older, uncut Warner Bros. cartoons that originally aired between 1948 and 1964. The first cartoon in the lineup always starred Porky Pig.
Host Segments: The show featured newly animated opening and closing sequences produced by Hal Seeger Productions, as the main Warner Bros. animation studio had closed. In the opening, Porky welcomed his friends into a barn to dance and watch the show. The closing featured his friends saying goodbye.
Character: Porky Pig is known for his innocent, often naive personality and his distinctive stutter. He often served as the "straight man" to other more frenetic characters like Daffy Duck.
Catchphrase: At the end of many classic shorts featured on the show, Porky would burst through a bass drum head and attempt to deliver the iconic closing line, "Th-Th-The, Th-Th-The, Th-Th... That's all, folks!".
