Wally Gator
Description:
Wally Gator is a classic Hanna-Barbera cartoon about an anthropomorphic alligator who lives in a city zoo but frequently escapes to explore the outside world. Voiced by Daws Butler, the happy-go-lucky alligator wears a pork pie hat and collar and is known for his attempts to get away from the zoo, which are often thwarted by the zookeeper, Mr. Twiddle. The show aired in 1962 as part of The Hanna-Barbera New Cartoon Series, alongside segments featuring Touché Turtle and Hardy Har Har.
Character: Wally Gator is a smooth-talking, adventurous alligator who longs for experiences beyond his zoo enclosure. Despite his desire for freedom, he eventually returns to the zoo, where life is more luxurious, with meals brought to him.
Plot: The central theme is Wally's repeated attempts to escape the zoo, though he often finds himself back where he started. His escapades lead him into humorous situations, and the show follows the formula of a character in a human-controlled environment trying to break free.
Voice Actor: Daws Butler, a legendary voice actor known for characters like Yogi Bear, provided the voice for Wally Gator.
Later appearances: Wally Gator later appeared as a character in other Hanna-Barbera series such as Yogi's Gang and Laff-a-Lympics. He was also included as a regular in the 2020s series Jellystone!.
